Folk group Freija has established its own unique musicals style during a career that began already in 2005. The group\u2019s popularity is founded on its recognizable sound as wells its original take on elements of folk music and schlagers, fusing a cool groove with a fresh vibe and poignant narratives. Their performance at the V\u00e4yl\u00e4festival includes lighthearted folk tunes, somber ballades, and cool hit-songs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freija performs for adult and children audiences alike. The group has won numerous prizes, such as the Etno Emma for the best folk album in Finland in 2011 and again in 2015. The group is featured on Piilomets\u00e4n Portti, an album chosen as the best children\u2019s music album in Finland in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jan Sweelinck was one of the most celebrated organists of the Renaissance age. His dazzling improvisations earned him the nickname \u201cOrpheus of Amsterdam\u201d. In time his star pupil Samuel Scheidt expanded the instrument\u2019s potential even further. Katrin Meriloo<\/strong> is a virtuoso organist working in the \u00d6vertorne\u00e5 congregation, where her instrument is a fabulous organ built originally in the 17th<\/sup> century into the German Church Stockholm and moved a century later to its current whereabouts in township of Matarengi. Virtuoso pianist Paavali Jumppanen<\/strong> performs also on the organ, and in this summer evening organ recital he takes on \u00d6vertorne\u00e5\u2019s unique instrument together with Katrin Meriloo. The program features impressive works from the Renaissance age from Sweelinck, Scheidt, Carleton, and Tomkins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
